Established in 2010, The Dean’s Fund for Excellence annual giving society unites a group of individuals who are an essential part of the Beaver College of Health Sciences family of supporters.
Your annual investment provides unrestricted support for critical needs in the college such as: student scholarships, travel for students and faculty to enhance global awareness and international opportunities, technology updates, economic development, new programs and opportunities, guest lectures and any additional needs for the college.

Funding for scholarships remains a top priority of the Beaver College of Health Sciences. Since 2010 our student enrollment has doubled, making us the second largest college in the university. Our continued growth has significantly impacted the demand for scholarship dollars across the college. Supporting scholarship needs is an excellent way to recognize academic achievement and outstanding leadership.
The Dean’s Scholarship for the Beaver College of Health Sciences is the 3rd most prestigious university scholarship awarded based on academic merit and leadership at Appalachian State University. It is renewable for a total of four years provided recipient maintains a GPA of 3.2 and is a declared major in the Beaver College of Health Sciences.
The Beaver College of Health Sciences awarded four Dean's Scholarships in 2015-2016 to incredibly talented students within the college.
The funds cover the equivalent costs of in-state full tuition and fees (approximately $7,500 in 2016-2017). Recipients of the BCHS Dean's Scholarship will also receive one stipend of $2,000 toward a study abroad experience during their enrollment at Appalachian. The total cost of four years of tuition and fees at Appalachian is currently approximately $35,000 (which can fluctuate based on tuition changes or increases).
A lifelong way to recognize student accomplishments while honoring or commemorating the accomplishments of others – $25,000 minimum to name an endowed scholarship.
A one-time gift of funds distributed in the same year they were received - $1000 minimum to name a current scholarship.
