Discovering endless possibilities

December 21, 2011

Ashley McNeely has a passion for travel, and a love of math. Appalachian provided her with opportunities to combine these interests, and she came away from her undergraduate experience with a full knowledge of accounting, internship experience with multiple non-profit organizations and a strong appreciation for sustainable practices that she was able to explore further while studying abroad.

During her senior year, a life-changing overseas trip to Brazil allowed her to gain first-hand knowledge of sustainable efforts underway in the public and private sectors there. “I feel that Appalachian has helped me individualize my plans for the future and work towards a unique and successful career path,” says Ashley, who is excited about the possibilities her Appalachian Experience has opened up for her. Her future before her, she says she would like to live overseas and gain experience working for an international non-profit agency. “One thing that Appalachian has opened my eyes to is that there are endless possibilities,” says Ashley. “I’m not afraid to dream big and step outside of my comfort zone to pursue my passions.
