Walker College of Business

Creating dynamic business leaders

Today’s global business environment demands dynamic leaders. The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University offers high quality educational experiences that prepare students to be responsible, effective professionals in a rapidly changing, global environment.

Included in Princeton Review’s 2012 edition of Best Business Schools, the college allows students to specialize in one or more functional area while mastering overall business concepts.

The Walker College of Business enrolls approximately 2,300 undergraduate in nine majors – accounting; computer information systems; economics; finance and banking; hospitality and tourism management; international business; management; marketing; and risk management and insurance - and 150 graduate students in Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting.  All business students fulfill an international requirement.

In 2008 Walker College was reaccredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the hallmark of excellence in management education.  Approximately one-third of U.S. business school programs and only 10 percent of business school programs worldwide meet these rigorous standards. The Walker College is one of 643 accredited member institutions and has been accredited since 1976.
