An Appalachian Summer Festival
It’s difficult to imagine a life without art, a university without arts programming or a community without a vibrant and thriving arts scene. Appalachian recognizes the importance of the arts to the university's teaching mission and to our community's quality of life.
For more than three decades, An Appalachian Summer Festival has enriched the lives of residents across western North Carolina and beyond, by presenting an exciting array of music, dance, theatre, film and visual arts programming. Named one of the “top 20 events in the southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society for many years, the festival is recognized as one of the nation's leading regional arts festivals, acclaimed for the quality and breadth of its artistic programming.
Presented by the Office of Arts and Cultural Programs, the festival attracts a diverse audience of community members, seasonal residents and visitors who enjoy a summertime arts menu typically found only in large, metropolitan areas. At the heart of the festival's mission is a commitment to affordable ticket prices, based on the belief that all residents of our region should enjoy access to world-class arts programming.
