Finding fellowship with the Appalachian Family

February 6, 2012

A risk management and insurance major in the Honors College, Kacey Griffin fell in love with Appalachian’s beautiful mountain setting from the moment she arrived, but what made her stay was the community. “I loved the welcoming feeling I got every time I visited Appalachian,” she says.

Kacey learned about Appalachian from her aunt, who told her about her about how much she had loved her own Appalachian Experience – especially being involved in the Gospel Choir. When Kacey joined the Gospel Choir herself, she found a creative outlet, spiritual fulfillment and her own meaning of the Appalachian Family.

“The Gospel Choir has been one of the most wonderful experiences I have had on campus,” she says. “I love the diversity that we have in the choir, the compliments we get from our classmates, faculty, families and friends. I am glad that we reach out – not only to our campus, but also to our community, our state and beyond.”
